About our services

Thank you for being willing to come and preach at LMC. We look forward to hearing what God is going to say through you

Our services are recorded on video, and posted on our website. We do this so that those who are unable to attend church can still share in the worship. Please tell us if you are unwilling to appear in a video of the service, as we can mix audio segments into the service recording.

We have facilities to show PowerPoints, and video clips during the service, and also play any items of pre-recorded audio.

We have a worship leader assigned for each service , and they will contact you in advance of your visit. This has  been part our worship culture at LMC for a number of years. The worship leader often chooses the songs in the initial part of the service, for which they value your thoughts in relation to the high level theme of the service.

We have a short group prayer meeting in the church at 10:15am and all those involved in the service in any way are invited to join us.

The first part of the service
(usually led by worship leader)

This part of the service normally includes:

Welcome
Call to worship
One or two praise songs
Opening prayer
All-age talk, video or activity
Song (when we normally take the offertory)

Either the worship leader or the preacher then dedicates the offering (including giving from standing orders etc)) and says a prayer for the young people who are about to leave the chapel.
The children and young people then leave for their Discoverer’s session.

The second part of the service
(usually led by the preacher)

The second part of the service usually includes: Scripture readings  (normally read by congregational members) We normally use the NIV(UK) version unless you ask us to use an alternative version. The layout of the rest of the service then usually follows this pattern. If you wish to divert from this pattern then feel free to do so.

Prayers of intercession
(these can be requested to be arranged by the worship leader, or led by the preacher)
We often use the Lord’s Prayer at the end of intercessions, please let us know whether you prefer the traditional or contemporary version. If you would like to use responsive prayers, then please let us have the responses so that they can be displayed onscreen at the appropriate time.

Music

Please choose up to three hymns or songs that can be placed as you think fit. While we project all song lyrics, we have word copies of Singing the Faith which are used regularly for those unable to see the screen. For songs not in Singing the Faith, we print out lyrics on paper for those who need it.

The music is band-led and can play hymns and songs from Singing the Faith and Songs of Fellowship, or from the CCLI Song Select database. Our worship band contains keyboards, guitar, bass, flute, sax, clarinet and drums, although not all can be at every service.

In general, we tend to favour contemporary hymns and songs, But we often include one or two traditional hymns especially those that are well known and loved.

Please discuss your choice of music with the worship leader, so that we can identify the music required by Thursday prior to the service, and then details will be distributed to the musicians.

Finally

If during the service you invoke any response or questions from the congregation, then please either use the hand mic to ensure their contribution is heard, or repeat what has been said so that it gets recorded.

Refreshments are served at the end of worship when there is a time of fellowship. We invite you to join us and have the opportunity to meet some of the congregation.

If you need a car parking space at the church, please let us know,

We recommend that you watch one of our online services on our website if you would like to learn more.

We trust that you will enjoy your visit to LMC.
