On Saturday 4 October a new bench was unveiled on the Kingston Road Recreation Ground, next to the Leatherhead Community Hub. This was a special bench provided by the charity “Legend On The Bench” after donations were provided by our own church alongside other local churches and community associations.
The bench is provided with a solar powered light and has a number of inscriptions which offer help to any who have mental health issues or are considering suicide.
A crowd gathered around the bench as they prepared to unveil it.

Willing hands shared the task of unveiling the bench with representatives from some of the sponsoring groups.
Mickey Hazard an ex-footballer and ambassador for the charity points out the QR code plate which can be read by a mobile phone.

It is hoped that the bench in Leatherhead will be a symbol of hope and a means of help to those facing difficulties, and may save the lives of those who don’t know where to turn for help.
