Carol Service 18 December 2022

We held our carol service this year on
18 December. To prepare for it we held a survey to identify the favourite carols of our congregation. From about fifty carols, we selected the top ten favourites, which were a mixture of traditional and contemporary carols. These were interspersed with readings and poems.

The traditional lighting of the candles took place, and we used the liturgy from the "There is Room" programme, which has been shared throughout Methodism

We had a full band with clarinet, flute, saxaphone, keyboards, drums and a vocal leader to accompany us in a joyous time of worship.

The service included a dedication for the multitude of knitted and crocheted angels and stars. These will be attached to the railings in our town centre, on Christmas Eve, with a gift card for anyone who would like one. We are very thankful to all those who worked so hard to create them.

This was the final carol service led by our minister Rev Jan Hofmeyr who will be retiring in 2023.
He told us that it was the best one that he could remember from the many he had experienced.
